Patriotism is your conviction that this country is superior to all other countries because you were born in it.
– George Bernard Shaw

The world and its peoples are divided by thin, invisible lines that were drawn out of differences between them. A man is not another’s brother if this line separates them. There are also other forms of division besides this creature of nationalism: Culture, Religion, Race, Class. One must remember that any force which unites, also operates by way of exclusion.

Malaysia has travelled a long way since the era of its Golden Chersonese. She has weathered through Despotism, Colonialism, Nationalism, Communist Insurgence and Independent Sovereignty. Her body is alive and well; tempered through the ages into a cold, hard shell. Yet, she is not invulnerable. Patient as she is, her ability to function continues to be patronised by the very forces which seek to heal it; Culture, Religion, Race, Class.

One must remember.
